Illinois Chapter announces annual Lift For Life event to take place on Sunday, July 8th

ILLINOIS L4L 18 GRAPHICThe Illinois Football Chapter of Uplifting Athletes, led by President Nick Allegretti, will hold its annual Lift For Life to support the Rare Disease Community on Sunday, July 8.

Lift For Life is the signature fundraising event for the Uplifting Athletes nationwide network of chapters led by college football student-athletes.

Each chapter embraces the mission of Uplifting Athletes using college football as a platform to inspire the Rare Disease Community with hope through the power of sport.

The 2018 Illinois Chapter Lift For Life is a private event this year.

β€œLift for Life has been an important part of The University of Illinois offseason program for many years. It gives the team a chance to workout and have fun while raising money and awareness for a tremendous cause,” Allegretti said. β€œIt has been an incredible honor to be a part of Uplifting Athletes for the past 5 years and to use our platform to help tackle rare diseases.”

Fans and supporters can make a pledge for the total number of max bench press repetitions one of the eight fundraising teams completes in the allotted 6-minutes. So find your favorite 2018 Illinois player and support his team by visiting the Illinois Chapter Lift For Life site. You can also make a flat donation to the Illinois Chapter Lift For Life.

The proceeds from the Illinois Chapter 2018 Lift For Life support the mission of Uplifting Athletes and its charitable programs: Rare Disease Awareness, Rare Disease Research, Uplifting Experiences and Uplifting Leaders.

Today, the challenges faced by the Rare Disease Community are bigger than any one individual, team or organization can tackle alone. The Illinois Chapter, along with a nationwide network of teams, is uniquely positioned to educate and engage the local community to shine a spotlight on rare diseases.

The student-athlete led Illinois Chapter serves the Rare Disease Community in honor of Andrew Carter, a former Illini offensive lineman who battled the rare disease acoustic neuroma in 2011. Carter never played football again, but his fight inspired the Illinois football program to help Tackle Rare Diseases.

Please support the Illinois Chapter and help the Fighting Illini reach their impressive $40,000 team Lift For Life goal.
