Using a two-quarterback system to replace injured starter Taylor Martinez, the Nebraska offense produced its biggest day under head coach Bo Pellini.
One of those back-up quarterbacks, Ron Kellogg III, had a huge afternoon and is the Uplifting Athletes Player of the Week.
Kellogg, who was the vice president of the Huskers’ Uplifting Athletes Chapter in 2012, completed 8 of 9 passes for 136 yards and a touchdown as Nebraska cruised past South Dakota State 59-20.
Tommy Armstrong Jr also had a big day under center by throwing for 196 yards and a touchdown as the duo of Armstrong and Kellogg combined for 345 of the 645 yards of total offense.
This was the second appearance of the season for Kellogg, a 6-1, 220-pound senior. Earlier this season he completed 4 of 5 passes for 24 yards against Southern Miss.
The game also featured Nebraska’s Chapter efforts in the fight against pediatric brain cancer. Thank you Huskers and congratulations on an all-around amazing game on Saturday!
