I hope this post finds you well. We saw our first snowflakes of the season today in Hamilton and the frigid temperatures have arrived just in time for league play. We open with our first Patriot League game of the year tomorrow at home when we take on the Crusaders of Holy Cross.
Holy Cross is a dismal 1-4 this season but we can not take them lightly. They’ve beaten us the past three seasons and the older guys are aching for a win. The Patriot League is always very evenly matched and every game is usually won or lost in the fourth quarter. We intend to make a statement to the rest of the league tomorrow by embarrassing Holy Cross in front of a huge homecoming crowd.
The Crusaders lost many talented seniors from last season and they are starting a lot of young guys on both sides of the ball. Our defense plans to pressure their freshman Quarterback into forcing throws that he wouldn’t normally make. Offensively we are going to continue to build on what we have been doing all season. We will pound the ball behind our massive Offensive Line and we will exploit their young secondary through the air. Coach Biddle reiterated all week that Holy Cross is our biggest league rival and that he refuses to lose to a team that wears purple. We are coming off of a much needed bye week at full health; our legs are fresh and we are anxious to put on a show tomorrow at 1pm.
For those of you who did not respond to the Uplifting Athletes Homecoming Dinner following the game tomorrow at 5pm, it is not too late to attend. Tickets will be $20 at the door and if you’re in town you won’t want to miss this. It will be a great time to meet current teammates and catch up with other alumni. I hope to see many of you there.
Have a great week everybody. Let’s Go ‘Gate!!!
