I hope all is well with you.
This past weekend Colgate Football fell to the sixth ranked Lehigh Mountain Hawks at Andy Kerr Stadium. The game went back and forth as our new fast paced mid zone offense spread their defense out horizontally and allowed the running backs to make their reads. Nate Eachus and quarterback Gavin McCarney led an efficient offensive attack that answered each of Lehigh’s scores for the first three quarters. However, with 14:00 left in the game, 31-26 was the closest Colgate Football could come to pulling off the upset. The team’s missed opportunities proved too much and left many wondering what could have been.
Moving forward, we travel to Lafayette this Saturday as we take the first step needed to end our season over .500. Lafayette is a big and physical group who have difficulty moving laterally. Their inability to move should prove vulnerable to our mid zone offense as we look to spread the field and exploit their secondary.
Saturday’s game is under the lights in front of what should be a near capacity Easton, PA. crowd. It is imperative that we take the crowd out of the game early and handle the emotions of their Senior Day. It is hard to believe that this is the final road game of my career. With only two games remaining, my fellow seniors and I look to end our careers on a high note while setting the tone for next season.
I appreciate your support throughout the year, and look forward to writing you next week after a road win over Lafayette.
